The 46th OESAI Annual Conference and AGM was held at the Elephant Hills Resort in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, from the 4th to 7th August 2024. African Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re), a Diamond Sponsor for the event, was well represented by staff from our Lagos Head Office, the Nairobi Regional office and the African Reinsurance Corporation of South Africa (ARCSA), our South African subsidiary. The Conference carried the theme, “The Business of Insurance in Economic, Digital and Geopolitical Uncertainty”, and participants discussed topical issues—Sustainability, ESG, Artificial Intelligence and Innovation, among others. Our very own Senior Manager for Human Resources, Mr. Siaophoro Kishimbo, delivered a well-received presentation titled, “Innovations in Employee benefits to attract and retain top talent”. 

On the sidelines of the Conference, the Africa Re delegates, Dr. Phocas Nyandwi (Regional Director, Nairobi), and our Underwriters Aggrey Mwesigwa, Reneiloe Pagiwa and Shelton Siwedza held numerous successful bilateral discussions with our existing clients and prospective partners. Immense credit goes to the OESAI Secretariat and the Local Organising Committee for putting together such a successful Conference, at a most spectacular venue, in the vicinity of the Mosi Oa Tunya, which means “the smoke that thunders”—the local name for the incomparable Victoria Falls.
